DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the workshop is to look at the areas of interf
 ace between intellectual property rights and competition law. The worksh
 op will cover some theoretical topics but will focus on actual experienc
 es in competition cases requiring the consideration of intellectual prop
 erty rights.  The workshop will consider traditional areas as well as so
 me of the emerging issues in this field\, such as pay-for-delay cases in
 volving generic pharmaceuticals.  The topics will be addressed and discu
 ssed in lectures by competition experts from OECD countries and in case 
 studies presented by the participants. In addition to covering real case
  examples in the presentations\, the programme will include a hypothetic
 al case study exercise to facilitate a discussion of key issues.
